CGPortfolio R.I.P.

Killing CGPortfolio was quite a milestone for me. You know people spend a lot of time networking, creating and promoting their art. I've been here for years but I feel my presence was pointless year after year. CGC have a very good community of 3D artists but 2D Illustration group is just dying. Last year I've moved to deviantart (DA) community and it's totally different both in social and technical aspects. CGPortfolio is lacking a lot of things comparing to DA.

Well it doesn't mean I stop drawing or something, I just moved my focus to another place. Come and visit me at http://agnidevi.deviantart.com/ if you're interested.

SOme stuff

it's time to summ up a few things.

First off, Legend Fairy now featured in EXOTIQUE 3 book. I've got a copy from Ballistic Publishing and it looks nice - tons of strong works of fellow artists. Congrats to everybody in the book! Got a copy of Art Scene International magazine with interview, boy so much wonderful stuff inside! We've nothing like this in Russia. Below are a few page samples:

LINK COLLECTOR now works at full power. It takes me a whole month to put those links up. There are 300+ resources: artists, painters, designers, forums etc. I remember on my old site links section along with tutorials has the highest demand. It's wonderful to finally bring that legacy back.

I've finished a cover for Rush Hour videogame addon for Gaijin/1C. That single cover takes more than month of work. It was totally new experience for me: I haven't any tension but total relax while painting.

However the personal work turned into a problem. I feel an amazing lack of motivation while my head is filled with creative ideas. I don't feel burned out at all I just don't take any action. Amazing state. I wonder if anyone experienced the same?

Link Collector

Heya!

I wish cgtalkers build a simple message board on portfolio frontpage instead of this "blog" so people would instantly see what's goin' on.

Anyway, my old site leoarts.ru doesn't exist anymore - all images are gone now. rip

The next BIG thing is link collector launch. I've coded and compiled best links to 3d, digital, conceptual and traditional artists. My goal was to build a simple yet effective tool, by artist for artists. By now it works really well, so welcome!

Go!

Um, hello!

I know there are tons of blogs around so this is just another 'Hello world!' entry. Frankly I don't read cgportfolio blogs much and I doubt if someone blogging here seriously. So I'm not expecting much attention here. It's just an experiment with communication between artist, colleagues and visitors. I'll keep it short without posting fluffy stuff so it won't consume much of your time.

Okay, here is a summary of latest goings:

There are many pictures to be completed and even more in my head. Cleaned up my gallery here, the oldest works are always on bottom.

I'm supervising concept art team (10+ guys) so it's quite an experience.

I'm still working on graphic novel (or comics if you wish), the progress is quite slow since I'm constantly wrestling with visual presentation and story. After years of tight illustration it's hard to draw comics really.

Art Scene International magazine has posted an interview 'Secrets of Siberia' in their latest issue. In the next issue you'll see legend fairy tutorial.

Stay tuned!
