I've tried to experement with optical mix idea that Sasha Beliaev posted here on cgtalk some time ago. Painted in PS with hard round brushes mainly and some texture touch-ups completed with Painter. I think with decent photo references he appears more real... so consider that it's more improvisation than exact copy.
